It has been confirmed by Northumberland County Council that the Home Group, who were proposing to build up to 200 homes on land at County Hall in Morpeth have withdrawn from the deal. The news confirms rumours first reported a week or so ago.
Home Group's withdrawal is a significant blow for Labour Leader of Northumberland County Council Grant Davey whose plans to relocate County Hall to Ashington now lie in tatters.
Speaking about the decision Conservative Candidate for Kirkhill Richard Wearmouth said, “The news that the Home Group have pulled out of this nonsense scheme will be greatly welcomed by Morpeth residents. I hope soon to see the applicant for the retail park at the site also withdraw.”
“Voters across Northumberland now need to vote Conservative in the 4th May Local Elections so that we can cancel the £80m County Hall move all together.”
