 Morpeth & Wansbeck Conservative Association
M&WCA covers the Wansbeck constituency, which is in Northumberland, England’s border county. Northumberland’s county town of Morpeth was once a constituency in its own right, and Morpeth Conservative Association was one of the longest established Conservative Associations in the country.
A boundary change brought Morpeth constituency and Wansbeck constituency together, and M&WCA was born, retaining the link to the old Morpeth Conservative Association. In 2002, M&WCA President, Mick Scott MBE, collected an award for paying our quota in full for 50 years, from Iain Duncan Smith. We have recently been congratulated for paying our quota in full for 55 years.
The Association has a varied membership, mostly through the Wansbeck branch. However, we also cater for members who have joined centrally through the Conservative Party and some members even live at the other end of the country!
M&WCA is also proud of its ability to offer members social, as well as political, activities. The Association often hosts coffee mornings, quizzes, general get-togethers as well as other more specific events. For example, we hold an annual "Summer Social” event, which usually includes buffet dinner, speeches, raffle draw and an opportunity to talk with like-minded people. We are always looking for bigger and better activities, and welcome any suggestions.
Politically, M&WCA is working to change Wansbeck. We are also fighting for local people in all areas of local government, and our efforts are paying dividends.
The Executive Team are constantly working hard to organise the Association in a way that serves members and local people better. After all, we are here to get a fair deal for Morpeth & Wansbeck.
The current Executive Team can be found by using the People link, and then the Association Officers link.
